Suzanna K. Hendrix was raised in a small, quaint town in western New York. Even in her earliest memories, she had a passion to be an artist. Her family fostered this desire with trips to museums and membership in art clubs throughout her youth. In high school she studied watercolor painting, and her relationship with the medium took root.
Suzanna enrolled in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts in 1988 to further fine-tune her skills and hone her artistic vision. Due to financial strains she transferred to SUNY Buffalo in 1990 and postponed studies in 1992. She moved to Indiana looking for greener pastures, and found them in 1994 when she married a Bloomington native and settled down. With her husband’s support and encouragement, she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1994. Within a year of completing her BFA, she began exhibiting her artwork in galleries as a part-time artist.
In 2002, Suzanna’s pursuit of a full-time career in art stepped up a notch as she began entering professional competitions. Since then, she has received recognition locally, regionally and nationally for her watercolors.
Suzanna began work as a full-time artist in June of 2005. As she pursues her childhood dream, she looks forward to the challenges and blessings this opportunity will bring. She lives in Ellettsville with her husband and two pugs, all of whom give her their full moral support.
